Remote working, a growing trend to work market

More and more employees either work exclusively ‘’far’’ from the company that engages them or the nature of their work demands them to be in constant move. Nowadays, a colleague doesn’t need to contact company’s reception desk to communicate with others trough messages whereas there is always the possibility of ‘’working from home’’.
Thanks to e-mails, video-conferences and the rest of technological advantages, even a natural location of a company is no longer needed. During recent years, companies start to use co-working spaces instead of offices, when a team- meeting is required.
A typical example is the City of Cape Town, which adopted this trend establishing flexible working hours and giving the opportunity for some of its employees to work from home. The motive behind this move was to reduce the traffic jam during rush hours.
The benefits of such a practice are many for both the company and the employees:

  • Reducing operative costs as the daily use of an office is no longer needed
  • Increase in productivity because there is no time-loss during comminuting for work
  • Speed and flexibility
