We have tasted it in brown and white color, now it is available in pink as well and is going to seduce us! Pink chocolate appeared in the late 2017 and makes chocolate lovers go crazy.
The Swiss cocoa giant, Barry Callebaut, has introduced pink chocolate to its audience. It is the first type of chocolate that has been released since the white chocolate release 80 years ago, according to Food Business News.
The Callebaut team “discovered” the grains of pink cocoa about a decade ago and ever since they are in the process of refining the ideal recipe. Beyond the pink color, it is smooth with a raspberry flavor. Its color and taste come from the grains of pink cocoa and it is free of dyes and artificial flavors. It is the cocoa beans that offer this unique color, which can be found in Ecuador, Brazil and the Ivory Coast.
Surveys conducted on consumer habits in the US, the UK, China and Japan revealed a positive impact on the arrival of the new chocolate, as it meets the needs of the millennials, who are willing to try the pink version at any price.
This new type of chocolate comes at a crucial moment for the industry, as Hershey plans to cut about 15% of its global workforce (about 2,700 jobs) in the next two years so as to boost profits. At the same time, Nestle has experienced sharp decline in sales over the last two decades. We will see if it will last!
