Smart devices play an increasingly important role in the everyday life of consumers worldwide. In recent years there has been a sharp increase in their use, which has changed decisively people’s lifestyles and activities, such as communication, entertainment, information and consumption.
Smart devices are called several digital devices such as the mobile phones (smartphones),
tablets, smart TVs, E / PC etc. It is worth noting that an American household owns on average approximately 10 active digital devices, whereby those households consisting of four or more persons hold more than 18 smart devices. The devices with the greatest penetration rate (97%) in the American households are laptops, followed by game consoles (32%).
 

The presence of young children (under 12 years) in the family contributes significantly to the increase of the use of electronic devices. More specifically, an American family with young children or teenagers may have up to 59% more electronic devices than a couple without children.

In Europe, 80% of people with Internet access use smartphones. It is of great interest the fact that the European consumer-mobile phone user spends on average 90% of their time to browse specifically designed applications rather than websites.
 
It is therefore very important for companies to establish a strong presence in the internet through applications and websites that are designed to be compatible with digital devices. In this way, they will help consumers in information search as well as in their transactions, while entertaining them.
