White or Red Wine? A blue one please!

White or Red Wine? A blue one please!

As long as discussions about the choice of white or red wine continue to divide demanding drink enthusiasts, a new proposal comes from Spain to stop the disagreements, or it may not!
The alternative is blue wine! The blue wine is a fact and came to review what we used to believe about wine to date and also to stand out from the existing choices.
A Spanish startup company managed to shake the country’s traditional wine production with a surprisingly pioneering and brand new drink. Its initiators say blue wine was created to revolutionize the domestic market. Their aim is to innovate and start a small “revolution” and Spain was the perfect place for that, as it is famous for its excellent quality wines.
For the production of the blue wine, different varieties of red and white grapes are used with two organic pigments that stain blue, the anthocyanin which is found in the red grape flesh, and the indigotine an organic compound often used to color food in icy cyan shades. The ultimate flavor is enhanced with non-calorie sweeteners to create a product that is something other than wine and cocktail and leaves a mature, sweet and slightly syrupy taste to the mouth.
In Spain, where wine is indissolubly linked to its culture, interventions in the production are not easily accepted. Blue wine, however, managed to shake the balance and stand out as an innovative product. Its inventors are all under 30 years and mainly target their own demographic group, which range from artists and designers to DJs and illustrators.
From a profitability point of view, we cannot predict from now on whether it will have a positive impact beyond the borders of Spain even though it has fans already. The blue color of the wine, as stated by its creators, represents movement, innovation, change and eternity and undoubtedly brought the revolution they had visioned. For the time being, it is sold in 25 countries with prospects for further expansion.
