The size of the market and its upward economic course over the last few years have contributed significantly to the <strong>increase of household incomes and domestic consumption<\/strong>.<br \/>\n<!--more--><br \/>\nSo, <strong>which are the preferences and characteristics of the modern Russian consumer<\/strong>?<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>About <strong>73% of the Russian population lives in urban areas <img loading=\"lazy\" class=\" wp-image-1682 alignright\" src=\"https:\/\/www.dkmarketing.gr\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/06\/J8-1.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"155\" height=\"77\" \/>(10% in St. Petersburg and Moscow)<\/strong> accounting for<strong> 85% of the domestic market\u2019s purchasing power.<\/strong> The emerging <strong>middle class includes 25 million people<\/strong> representing <strong>80% of the country&#8217;s demand.<\/strong><\/li>\n<li>Russians\u00a0often <strong>spend more than 80% of their income, with 30% spending on food and beverage purchases.<\/strong><\/li>\n<li><strong>They are spontaneous in their markets<\/strong>.<img loading=\"lazy\" class=\" wp-image-1683 alignleft\" src=\"https:\/\/www.dkmarketing.gr\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/06\/J9-1.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"130\" height=\"115\" \/> However, they are <strong>dedicated in brands (43%)<\/strong> and they usually have chosen a brand before they even enter the store. <strong>They choose mainly established western brands in electronic products, cosmetics, health and beauty products.<\/strong><\/li>\n<li>They buy products that can be used in the short term. In particular, <strong>25% of Russian consumers&#8217; purchases are made to meet an urgent need<\/strong>, while <strong>47% of them buy products that can be consumed the same day.<\/strong><\/li>\n<li><strong>Modern<img loading=\"lazy\" class=\" wp-image-1684 alignright\" src=\"https:\/\/www.dkmarketing.gr\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/06\/J10-1.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"150\" height=\"112\" \/> Russians are educated and influenced by the Western lifestyle. They have a preference in sophisticated tastes and do not hesitate to experiment with new flavors and products.<\/strong> Indeed, \u00be of the Russian consumers are willing to test new innovative products.<\/li>\n<li><strong>They are better<img loading=\"lazy\" class=\" wp-image-1685 alignleft\" src=\"https:\/\/www.dkmarketing.gr\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/06\/J11-1.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"139\" height=\"104\" \/> informed due to the widespread use of new technologies\u00a0and social media.<\/strong> Advertising through television and social media is a highly effective method of promoting products in the Russian market.<\/li>\n<li>Russian consumers <strong>pay great attention to the relation between quality and price before every purchase<\/strong>. <strong>23% of them believe that product variety is an important factor to choose shops, while many prefer shops that are relatively\u00a0close to them.<\/strong><\/li>\n<li><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\" wp-image-1686 alignright\" src=\"https:\/\/www.dkmarketing.gr\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/06\/J12-1.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"122\" height=\"81\" \/><strong>19% of Russian buyers buy half of the products in discount and offer prices<\/strong>. The average share of discount products in Russia is 35% in everyday products.<\/li>\n<li><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\" wp-image-1687 alignright\" src=\"https:\/\/www.dkmarketing.gr\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/06\/J13-1.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"108\" height=\"87\" \/><strong>In 2015, 96%\u00a0of Russians bought private label products at least once,\u00a0intentionally or unintentionally<\/strong>. However, it is noted that<strong> 73% of Russians say they avoided buying private label products.<\/strong><\/li>\n<li><strong>16% of Russians regard shopping as a pleasure<\/strong>\u00a0(26% is the world average),\u00a0with <strong>53%<img loading=\"lazy\" class=\" wp-image-1688 alignleft\" src=\"https:\/\/www.dkmarketing.gr\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/06\/J14-1.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"229\" height=\"120\" \/> of those shopping regularly for the whole family,<\/strong> as family is important and <strong>affects their buying habits.<\/strong> By comparison, a third (32%) of Russians shop for themselves.<\/li>\n<li><strong>About 43% of Russians prefer to buy in a physical store rather than online<\/strong>.\u00a0Although Russian <strong>e-commerce is still at an early stage, it is rapidly developing.<\/strong> Today, <img loading=\"lazy\" class=\" wp-image-1689 alignright\" src=\"https:\/\/www.dkmarketing.gr\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/06\/J15-1.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"199\" height=\"119\" \/>about <strong>60 million Russians are internet users<\/strong>, making Russia the 2<strong>nd largest European market for e-commerce after Germany.<\/strong> <strong>Russian internet users buyers are generally young, educated and have high incomes. They mainly buy clothes, electronic products, and products for children, beauty products, books and trips<\/strong>.
