world&#8217;s tourism industry <strong>as consumers<\/strong> are interested more and more on <strong>enhancing their mental and physical health,<\/strong> during holidays <strong>by visiting spa centers, receiving massages and facial and body treatments.<\/strong><!--more--><br \/>\n<strong>\u00a0This form of tourism is estimated to account for 6% of global tourism.<\/strong> According to the Global Wellness Institute, <strong>in 2013, there were 587 million trips for wellness purposes <img loading=\"lazy\" class=\" wp-image-1550 alignright\" src=\"https:\/\/www.dkmarketing.gr\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/05\/May29.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"226\" height=\"111\" \/>globally,<\/strong> <strong>the total value of which amounted to \u20ac 456 billion,<\/strong> recording an <strong>increase of 13% compared to 2012.<\/strong> Whatsoever, wellness tourism costs are increasing at a higher rate as compared to the total spending on all forms of tourism.<br \/>\n<strong>Europe is the world&#8217;s top destination for <img loading=\"lazy\" class=\" wp-image-1551 alignleft\" src=\"https:\/\/www.dkmarketing.gr\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/05\/May30.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"177\" height=\"105\" \/>wellness tourism, accounting for 37% of the market in question (212 million trips).<\/strong> At European level, <strong>Germany, France and the UK are the largest markets<\/strong> <strong>for wellness tourism,<\/strong> with 84% of those trips being home-grown, while at the same time they are the main source of tourism wellness in the developing countries (e.g. Turkey, Morocco, Egypt, Japan, India, China, Thailand).<img loading=\"lazy\" class=\" wp-image-1552 alignright\" src=\"https:\/\/www.dkmarketing.gr\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/05\/May31.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"261\" height=\"120\" \/><br \/>\n<strong>European tourists<\/strong> are increasingly <strong>following a proactive approach by combining holidays with treatments for stress and chronic pain, as well as for improving their skin.<\/strong> Given the aging population <img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"wp-image-1553 alignleft\" src=\"https:\/\/www.dkmarketing.gr\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/05\/May32.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"164\" height=\"109\" \/>in most European countries and the high costs along with the long queues in medical centers, <strong>an increasing number of elderly Europeans are looking for wellness services abroad. <\/strong>Especially <strong>in Western Europe, there is an increasing demand for treatments that do good in mind and body.<\/strong><br \/>\n<strong>European travelers are generally more experienced and demanding with regard to <img loading=\"lazy\" class=\" wp-image-1554 alignright\" src=\"https:\/\/www.dkmarketing.gr\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/05\/May33.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"257\" height=\"113\" \/>accommodation and food,<\/strong> <strong>cleanliness, safety and quality of facilities and staff, personalized service, comfort and flexibility in bookings and offers.<\/strong><br \/>\n<img loading=\"lazy\" class=\" wp-image-1555 alignleft\" src=\"https:\/\/www.dkmarketing.gr\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/05\/May34.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"176\" height=\"85\" \/>In addition, <strong>many European tourists are interested for sports during their holidays <\/strong>(walking, cycling, running or other physical activity)<strong> as well as following a healthy diet.\u00a0<\/strong>Those activities <strong>are particularly popular between the ages of 50-65,<\/strong> <strong>as well as for <img loading=\"lazy\" class=\" wp-image-1556 alignright\" src=\"https:\/\/www.dkmarketing.gr\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/05\/May35.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"174\" height=\"114\" \/>travelers from Austria and Scandinavia.<\/strong> With regard to therapies <strong>such as thermal spas, acupuncture, yoga and massage they are also widespread.<\/strong> Especially <strong>in Western Europe, demand for body-spirit therapies such as meditation and yoga records an upward course.<\/strong><br \/>\n<img loading=\"lazy\" class=\" wp-image-1557 alignleft\" src=\"https:\/\/www.dkmarketing.gr\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/05\/May36.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"190\" height=\"100\" \/>In this context<strong>, tourists are increasingly choosing to stay in hotels that offer healthy menus, spa and fitness services and other wellness activities.<\/strong> Consequently<strong>, wellness services and facial and body treatments are no longer a luxury, as more and more consumers choose packages that include those
