<strong>plastic packaging is environmentally friendly and even evolves to have an improved ecological footprint, and incorporates innovations that make it even more user-friendly and functional.<\/strong><!--more--><br \/>\n<strong>\u00a0 \u00a0The main properties <\/strong>of plastic packaging are as follows:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>They <strong>can withstand the difficulties along the supply chain.<\/strong><\/li>\n<li>They <strong>prevent product alterations that are due to weather and environmental factors.<\/strong> Thus, they <strong>maintain freshness, taste and aroma of the product and extend its life on <img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"wp-image-1540 alignright\" src=\"https:\/\/www.dkmarketing.gr\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/05\/May19.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"157\" height=\"96\" \/>the shelf<\/strong><\/li>\n<li><strong>Ease of sterilization<\/strong><\/li>\n<li><strong>Light weight,<\/strong> which entails <strong>lower transport and energy costs,<\/strong> as well as <strong>waste reduction.<\/strong><\/li>\n<li><strong>Very good aesthetic result.<\/strong> Plastic packaging <strong>can be transparent, reminiscent of glass and gives a premium feel to the product,<\/strong> while allowing the consumer to <strong>look at their contents closely.<\/strong> They can also <strong>be colored or decorated with labels<\/strong> (e.g. shrink sleeve) or other elaborate graphic designs through specific printing techniques.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Flexibility and adaptability. <\/strong>They can be manufactured <strong>in various shapes and sizes.<\/strong><\/li>\n<li><strong>Recyclability and reuse.<\/strong> <strong>Less material<\/strong> is used to make packages compared to other materials, <strong>such as paper, metal and glass, plus that it produces less environmentally harmful substances than the rest materials.<\/strong> In addition<strong>, plastic packaging can be recycled and reused more often than paper and glass.<\/strong> In this context it is underlined that:<img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"wp-image-1541 alignright\" src=\"https:\/\/www.dkmarketing.gr\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/05\/May20.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"160\" height=\"90\" \/><\/li>\n<li><strong>Most Americans recycle plastic packaging after use, and in 2013 in the US, 27% of used plastic packaging was recycled,<\/strong> while in 2014 a total of 1.36 billion kg of plastic bottles were recycled.<\/li>\n<li><strong>At European level, more than 50% of all European products are packaged in plastics,<\/strong> while the recycling rate of plastic packaging <strong>reached almost 69.2% in 2014.<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>The most common types of plastic used in product packaging are:<img loading=\"lazy\" class=\" wp-image-1542 alignright\" src=\"https:\/\/www.dkmarketing.gr\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/05\/May21.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"105\" height=\"105\" \/><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>High density polyethylene (HDPE).<\/strong> It is one of the most commonly used types of plastic especially for the manufacture of plastic bottles and containers. <strong>It is suitable for short-lasting products such as milk and chemicals such as detergents.<\/strong><\/li>\n<li><strong>Low density polyethylene (LDPE).<\/strong> It is mainly <strong>used in film making.<\/strong> It <strong>is popular for <img loading=\"lazy\" class=\" wp-image-1543 alignright\" src=\"https:\/\/www.dkmarketing.gr\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/05\/May22.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"108\" height=\"112\" \/>solutions where heat sealing is needed.<\/strong> <strong>It is also used to make flexible bottle caps.<\/strong><\/li>\n<li><strong>Polyethylene terephthalate (PET, PETE).<\/strong> It is commonly used for the manufacture of <img loading=\"lazy\" class=\" wp-image-1544 alignleft\" src=\"https:\/\/www.dkmarketing.gr\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/05\/May23.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"160\" height=\"106\" \/>beverage bottles as well as injection-molded containers for consumer products. PET is <strong>one of the most well-known and widely used plastics and is fully recyclable.<\/strong> <strong>It is still very versatile,<\/strong> as it can be produced in various shapes and sizes.<img loading=\"lazy\" class=\" wp-image-1545 alignright\" src=\"https:\/\/www.dkmarketing.gr\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/05\/May24.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"121\" height=\"86\" \/><br \/>\n<strong>Polypropylene (PP).<\/strong> It has <strong>good chemical resistance and high melting point <\/strong>which makes it suitable for hot- filling. It is used in both <strong>flexible and rigid plastic packaging<\/strong> as well as in the automotive and consumer products.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Polystyrene (PS).<\/strong> It is <strong>a plastic that is easily adaptable <img loading=\"lazy\" class=\" wp-image-1546 alignleft\" src=\"https:\/\/www.dkmarketing.gr\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/05\/May25.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"119\" height=\"79\" \/>according to the intended use and can be rigid or foam.<\/strong> It is hard and brittle, <img loading=\"lazy\" class=\" wp-image-1547 alignright\" src=\"https:\/\/www.dkmarketing.gr\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/05\/May26.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"118\" height=\"118\" \/>and has a relatively low melting point.
