But what are the characteristics that make it so sought after?<!--more--><br \/>\nFirst of all, truffle is <span class=\"Apple-style-span\">a very nutritious food<\/span> which protects and enhance human health. More specifically:<br \/>\n-It is <span class=\"Apple-style-span\">low in calories<\/span> and <span class=\"Apple-style-span\">high in water content<\/span> <span class=\"Apple-style-span\">(80-99%),<\/span> which assists in weight loss<img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"alignright\" src=\"https:\/\/www.dkmarketing.gr\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/05\/truffle2.jpg\" width=\"167\" height=\"103\" \/><br \/>\n&#8211; It is <span class=\"Apple-style-span\">rich in proteins<\/span><br \/>\n-It is an <span class=\"Apple-style-span\">excellent source of vitamins<\/span> (B1, B2, B3, B12, D), <span class=\"Apple-style-span\">fiber and trace elements, while exhibiting a high content of amino acids and fatty acids<\/span>.<br \/>\nIt also has <span class=\"Apple-style-span\">important pharmaceutical \/ therapeutic properties:<\/span><br \/>\n&#8211; <span class=\"Apple-style-span\">It strengthens the circulatory and nervous system and soothes muscular and arthritic pain<\/span><br \/>\n&#8211;<span class=\"Apple-style-span\">It has antithrombotic activity<\/span>, contributing to the proper functioning of the heart, and <span class=\"Apple-style-span\">helps to reduce cholesterol<\/span> (because of pantothenic acid)<br \/>\n&#8211;<span class=\"Apple-style-span\">Prevents depression<\/span><br \/>\n-It is <span class=\"Apple-style-span\">a<\/span><span class=\"Apple-style-span\">phrodisiac<\/span><br \/>\nIt is regarde<img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"alignright\" src=\"https:\/\/www.dkmarketing.gr\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/05\/truffle3.png\" width=\"82\" height=\"93\" \/>d as a <span class=\"Apple-style-span\">luxury food<\/span> and <span class=\"Apple-style-span\">is preferred by connoisseurs of fine cuisine <\/span>because of its <span class=\"Apple-style-span\">unique flavor and the rich aroma,<\/span><span class=\"Apple-style-span\"> characteristics that can turn any dish to an unforgettable culinary experience. <\/span>It is mainly used on poultry, beef, pork and dears in pasta sauce and rice, as well as raw, grated or chopped. Apart from fresh, truffle is available in other forms, such as in jars with water or oil and salt in paste form, alone or together with other mushrooms and herbs, as well as in cans. It can be also added in fragrance oil, vinegar sauces, cheese, butter and even honey.<img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"alignright\" src=\"https:\/\/www.dkmarketing.gr\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/05\/truffle-4.png\" width=\"98\" height=\"108\" \/><br \/>\nNowadays, about 70 species of truffle have recorded worldwide, of which 30 are located exclusively in Europe and around 27 species of them grow in Greece. The shape of the truffle is almost round with irregular form, and its size range from 2-7 cm. Its color range from dark gray to black and white and weight from a few grams to 2 kilograms. The five most commercial species of truffles are: the tuber aestivum (summer black), the tuber brumale, the tuber magnatum (white), the tuber melanosporum (winter black) and tuber borchii.<br \/>\n<img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"alignright\" src=\"https:\/\/www.dkmarketing.gr\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/05\/truffle5.jpg\" width=\"150\" height=\"99\" \/>Truffle grows in <span class=\"Apple-style-span\">mountainous, semi-mountainous terrain<\/span> rich in minerals (eg calcium, potassium, nitrogen, phosphorus, clay) with a high pH (7,2 &#8211; 8) and an altitude of 300-1000 m. The climate of those terrains can be characterized as Mediterranean (little rainfall during the summer months), while the cultivation <span class=\"Apple-style-span\">ensures high financial rewards<\/span> due to the increased demand worldwide in combination with the slight supply. Indeed, sale price can amount to over \u20ac 6000 per kilo, while in many cases the crops are sold in advance.<br \/>\n<span class=\"Apple-style-span\">Cultivation and consumption truffle has made remarkable progress over the last decade.<\/span> It is noted tha<span class=\"Apple-style-span\"><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"alignright\" src=\"https:\/\/www.dkmarketing.gr\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/05\/truffle6.jpg\" width=\"152\" height=\"89\" \/><\/span>t <span class=\"Apple-style-span\">I<\/span><span class=\"Apple-style-span\">taly, Spain and France<\/span> cover 1\/10 of the world demand, being at the same time as the <span class=\"Apple-style-span\">main <\/span><span class=\"Apple-style-span\">consumer <\/span>countries of this product. <span class=\"Apple-style-span\">Europe actually consumes half the domestic production and exports the rest.<\/span> It is worth mentioning that, Spain and Poland increased truffle exports by 50% over the four last years (2011-2015). The main importing countries of truffle that has produced in <span class=\"Apple-style-span\">Europe are Germany, Russia, USA,<\/span> <span class=\"Apple-style-span\">France, Japan and Italy.<\/span><br \/>\n<span class=\"Apple-style-span\">Europe is the biggest exporter of truffle worldwide<\/span>, accounting for 85% of the total volume truffle exported to the international market, followed by China with 10% and North Africa (5%). <span class=\"Apple-style-span\">Both China and North Africa<\/span> are the <span class=\"Apple-style-span\">largest suppliers of Europe,<\/span> exporting almost the entire production. With regard to North America, although it produces large amounts of truffle, they are primarily intended to meet domestic demand.<br \/>\n<img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"alignright\" src=\"https:\/\/www.dkmarketing.gr\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/05\/truffle7.png\" width=\"119\" height=\"90\" \/>Truffle cultivation is not widespread in Greece as it is a <span class=\"Apple-style-span\">new and innovative product<\/span>. <span class=\"Apple-style-span\">However, the geomorphological and climatic conditions of our country, which are ideal for the development of high quality truffles, can favor large production.<\/span> Already, small quantities that have produced domestically <span class=\"Apple-style-span\">receive positive comments by foreign markets<\/span>.<br \/>\n<span class=\"Apple-style-span\">Truffle is a superfood that significantly benefits the human body, and is a delicacy that is increasingly used in international cuisines.
